Music Together®® classes are unusual in that they mix ages birth through five (except in our special age classes). Because the activities focus on adult/child interaction rather than child/child interaction, children of different ages (such as siblings) can enjoy class together.
Babies class
Infants 0 - 8 months; non-mobile with Adults
A born sounder and mover, your baby is already equipped with the means and potential to make music. You've probably noticed how they respond when you play a song in the car or sing them a song to soothe them. Developing your baby's natural musicality will open the door to a world of possibility, not only for music learning but for all learning. The early months are so important to this process, which is why Music Together designed this special class to help you every step of the way.
Music Together offers a one-semester Babies Class for families with babies from birth through eight months of age. In this class, the activities are specifically designed to teach you how to support music development in infancy and how to connect with your baby through music using methods such as "purposeful touch," "sound-layering," "dancing for baby," etc. And since our Babies Class uses the same song collections as our other classes, you will experience a seamless transition as your baby grows into our mixed-age and Rhythm Kids® classes.
Rhythm Kids® Level 2
Rhythm Kids®® Level 2 is for children 5-8 years old who are ready to lead musical activities with their peers. Children dig deeper and gain a richer understanding of how music works.
Each week we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and play music-based games that reinforce, in a fun, playful manner, the rhythm patterns that we learn in class. Rhythm Kids®® guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative.
Rhythm Kids®® carries on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age eight.
Parent participation is welcome, but not mandatory.
Rhythm Kids® Level 1
Rhythm Kids® Level 1 is the next musical step for your preschool child (ages 4–5. Children need to be 4 by Sept 1). It is recommended that a parent/caregiver stay and participate for at least the first class of the session. Following the first week of class, adults are welcome and encouraged to stay and play whenever they are able!
Each week we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and begin to play music-based games. Rhythm Kids® Level 1 guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative.
Drums will be provided for the class each week, but if you would like your child to have a drum to play with at home, (and them continue to use in the Level 2 class) please ask your teacher about the special discounts on djembe drums that are available to Music together families.
