All of our teachers are trained through Music
Together LLC in Princeton NJ. They receive ongoing support through
songs and skills workshops, certification training, teacher newsletters
and training videos.
Mary Beth Camp Co-Director
and Teacher
Mary Beth studied voice at the Cleveland Music School Settlement
and has sung all her life. After a long career as a photographer,
she returned to her love of music. Mary Beth started the first Music
Together Center in Hong Kong while living overseas. She plays guitar
and autoharp, sings in the ensemble PDX Vox and holds Certification
Level 1.
Bonnie Singer Co-Director
and Teacher
Bonnie has a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance and has performed
professionally in NYC and throughout the USA. She currently performs
in Portland as a member and soloist with Aurora Chorus and teaches
music to children at Grace Arts Institute. Bonnie has an M.A. in
Education and holds Music Together Certification Level 1.
Joell Bradshaw Teacher
Joell studied voice and sung in choirs ensembles and musicals. With
her
background in ballet and jazz dancing, she infuses her Music Together
classes with movement. Joell has a Masters Degree in Social Work
concentrating on children and families. She also plays guitar and
loves to sing with her two sons.
Shannon Brazil Teacher
Shannon is a professional actor and an award winning playwright
who got her start in musical theatre. She worked in New York City
and LA where she also taught in theatre arts workshops for children.
Motherhood has lead Shannon straight back to her musical roots playing
guitar and writing songs with her family.
Maggie Brunjes Teacher
Maggie plays banjo, fiddle and sings. She has developed a passion
for working with children during her years of experience as a teacher
and nanny. Maggie teaches fiddle and banjo and loves to call and
play for square dances. She performs with Portland's old-time string
band The Government Issue Orchestra.
David Edwards Teacher
David blends a lifetime of experience with children and the performing
arts in the Music Together setting, and was formerly director of
his own MT center in the SF Bay area. Though he holds degrees
in music ed. and theatre, his favorite school is music itself and
his favorite teachers are the children with whom he creates it.
Dave Hall Teacher
Dave is a children's musician who's debut album, Bee Positive, received
a 2005 NAPPA Honors Award and a 2004 & 2008 Parents Choice Award.
He holds a masters degree in education, is a certified elementary
classroom teacher and teaches music to kids at Grace Arts Institute
and Sunnyside Environmental School.
Sarah Hardy Teacher
Sarah has sung all her life in choirs, madrigals and musical theatre
and was the music director for her universities 16 member a-cappella
group. Through MT classes with her daughters she discovered the
joy of making music with children. Sarah plays the guitar and sings
in the ensemble PDX Vox.
Elizabeth Lavenue Teacher
Elizabeth has spent the past 15 years as a singer/actor/dancer with
various groups, such as Portland Opera, Mock's Crest Productions,
and Angels The Next Generation. A lover of East and West, she has
lived in India studying and exploring Indian music and religions.
Elizabeth currently teaches private voice lessons from her home.
Betsy LeVine Teacher
Betsy has worked as a preschool teacher in both Montessori and charter
schools since 2003. Her love for children and natural silliness
combined with singing, playing guitar and clarinet led her to train
as a teacher with Music Together. She has taught Israeli folk dancing
to children and is studying fiddle.
Caroline Oakley Teacher
Caroline plays Appalachian Old-Time fiddle and guitar and is one
of Portland's most sought after square dance callers. Performing
in a duet with her husband, she teaches and calls square dances
at various farmer's markets, hoedowns, and festivals. Caroline has
worked for years with children in a social service setting.
Jillian Rhodes Teacher
Jillian has sung in choirs, vocal ensembles and garage bands. Her
years of experience teaching dance and creative movement, classroom
teaching and nannying reflect her love of working with children.
Jillian sings and plays guitar with the string band, Ask Irene,
and studies modern dance.
